In Adult Social Care in the West Midlands the pressures are immense. The people we serve need our care more than ever before. To keep going over the next months we need all the experience, skills and spare hands we can find.

For whatever reason you left adult social care – to change direction, look after your family or to enjoy a well-earned retirement – we need your skills and experience again.

Roles

There are eight key fields that we are looking for expertise in. These are:

  • Approved Mental Health Profession (AMHP)
  • Crisis Intervention & Emergency
  • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
  • Disability Adults
  • Hospital Discharge
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Registered Nurses
  • Supporting Social Workers

If you feel your expertise does not sit within these areas, we still want to hear from you as your skills can still be utilised.

What skills and experience are you looking for?
The employing councils will be looking for relevant previous skills and experience of working in Adult Social Care. Councils will require people with knowledge of social work practice and legislation who are committed to achieving the best for people of the region.
Which Councils could I work with?
There are 14 Councils in the West Midlands region that your application could be passed onto for supporting their Adults Social Care. You can indicate your interest within your application as to which one(s) you wish to be considered by. The 14 authorities are;

Will I need to re-register with the relevant regulatory body?
If you have been out of practice please refer to your Regulatory Bodies Temporary Register COVID Guidance.
We also welcome interest from all Registered Professionals currently out of work or based in another role.
How long do you need me?
The duration of any position will be agreed between you and the employing Council prior to the start of a job. The period of time you will be required is dependent upon the extent of support the Council requires as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. If there is no longer a demand at the Council you were recruited to work in, you can still re-enter the Return to Social Work pool and be considered for other positions across the region.
What will be my employment status?
Each Council will make it clear whether the offer of employment is on a permanent, casual or fixed term basis.
Who will pay me and how?
You will be paid directly by the Council who has employed you. This is ordinarily on a monthly basis, however, please check with the Council you are employed to work at for further clarification as to how and when you will be paid.
Will I have to be interviewed?
You will be required to undertake a virtual interview as part of the selection process for the Council who is considering employing you. Each Council will organise this with you directly.
Will pre-employment and reference checks be carried out?
If you are offered a position, each Council will conduct their own pre-employment checks and references in accordance with the requirements of the job. Councils can currently carry out these clearances virtually where you will be required to scan in and upload the required identification.

Registered Nurses

What skills and experience are you looking for?

The Care Provider will be looking for relevant previous skills and experience of working in Adult Social Care. They will require people with knowledge of caring for adults with care needs, legislation and those who are committed to achieving the best for people of the region.

Who would I be working for?
You will be working with Care providers that provide nursing.
Within your application you can select which area(s) of the region you would like to be considered for. You then be matched to care providers that are based within the area(s) selected by you for your application to be considered.
Will I need to re-register with the relevant regulatory body?
If you have been out of practice please refer to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Temporary Register COVID Guidance.
How and in what capacity will I be employed?
Information such as the duration and nature of the role, employment status, who will be paying you etc will be shared with you as part of the process once you have been matched to a role and ahead of you agreeing to take it up.
Will I have to be interviewed?
You will be required to undertake a phone or video interview as part of the selection process.
Will pre-employment and reference checks be carried out?
If you are offered a position, pre-employment checks and references will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the job.
